Behind the Name
Behind the Name
The name Palmer Kennedy holds deep, personal meaning for our family. It was inspired by our two children, Kennedy (born in 2013) and Mason (born in 2014), with each of their stories contributing uniquely to our brand's name.
While Kennedy’s name was naturally considered, finding a way to honor Mason in the business name took a bit more thought. The name "Palmer" kept coming up, reminding us of a powerful experience surrounding Mason’s birth.
Kennedy was born at a different hospital, but soon after her birth, we learned of a heartbreaking event that a dear friend experienced at the same hospital. This opened our eyes to the importance of finding a facility with a reputation for top-tier care, which led us to Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Florida, for Mason's birth.
My pregnancy with Mason was healthy until unexpected complications arose. Despite a planned C-section, I went into labor at 37.5 weeks, resulting in a rare and life-threatening condition called a uterine rupture, something only 0.01% of mothers experience. We found ourselves in a critical 1.5-hour window, with only a 60% chance of survival for both of us. By God’s grace, we were in the right place with the right medical team, and we both made it through. We are deeply grateful for the care we received and the life-saving role Winnie Palmer Hospital played in our story.
Sadly, my friend Noelle faced a different journey. After her daughter experienced complications during birth, she was transported to another hospital where, despite the best efforts, she lived only three weeks before passing on August 16, 2013. In response to her loss, Noelle founded a nonprofit, The Finley Project dedicated to supporting mothers through infant loss.
It is our honor to carry the name Palmer Kennedy as a reminder of faith, gratitude, and resilience. We invite you to learn more about The Finley Project and consider supporting their impactful work.
